This blog has only been open for a short time, but I’ve already received plenty of traffic. Definitely more than I thought I’d receive at this point! So, I thought I’d share a few of my personal tips for getting more traffic to your blog.
Tell your friends about your blog
Since I haven’t run a personal blog in so many years, I was nervous to tell people about this blog. But, I built up the courage to tell my friends and colleagues about my site/blog, and they actually visited and showed their support. I also found that telling people about my blog pushed me to follow through with what I had planned. Another thing–make sure your site is linked everywhere, including your social media sites & anywhere you hang out online. Any place that asks for your website URL, put it there!
Leave comments on other blogs
I like to visit other blogs that share similar interests and leave a comment. This is a great way to network and get your blog out there — but don’t expect anything back. Read the article/post and really post a comment that is worthwhile. Networking is more than just about what people can do for you. It’s about building relationships and creating a sense of community. Yes, you are networking to bring in traffic to your blog, but that shouldn’t be your only goal.
Join Facebook groups
Join a few Facebook groups to bond with other bloggers in your area, niche, etc. I joined a couple of groups and the members were so welcoming. I even got a few new followers! They support each other and help each other as fellow bloggers.
Promote your blog posts on social media
I receive a lot of traffic from social media, so I know how powerful it can be. Don’t have a ton of followers? No problem! Keep promoting your blog posts with #hashtags, keywords, and enticing headlines. Get out there and interact with people. Follow them. Talk to them. Ask them questions. Be sincere. Before you know it, your follow count will be rising and you’ll have more people checking out your blog.
Guest post on other blogs
I haven’t had a chance to do this one yet (although I am open to it!), but it’s one of the best things to do to promote your blog. If you don’t have an audience, why not guest post to someone who does have an audience? Try to write a post that shows off what your blog is about. For example, if you have a blog about beauty and makeup, you probably should guest post something about that, not something random like photography. That way, when people see your post, they can come to your site and see what else you have to offer.
