This time last year, I was just married and my new husband and I were on our honeymoon in beautiful San Diego. I got married 1 year ago on September 26, 2015 and time has gone by SO fast since then.
To celebrate, Brian and I decided to take a few days off from work to have some fun. We went to the casino, tried a new restaurant, played some games at Dave & Buster’s, and saw a movie.
Monday was our anniversary, and since we had spent the entire weekend celebrating, we decided to take it easy. But one thing I really wanted to do was try our wedding cake. We had a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and it was really good the first time around.
I guess it’s tradition to freeze your wedding cake for a year and then thaw it out and eat it? At least, that’s what we were told by our parents. lol. So my mother-in-law took the cake home in a box, wrapped it up tight in foil, and put it in the freezer. Fast forward to a year later, we brought the cake home and thawed it out in the fridge the day before our anniversary so it would be ready the next day.
When we tried the cake, I was fully expecting it to taste like crap. I mean, one year old wedding cake?? Surely it would taste like a mushy, freezer-burned mess right?
Wrong! The cake tasted fresh. It wasn’t very soft at first because we had it in the fridge but it got softer as we had it sitting out on the counter. It was sweet, moist, and there was no trace of the freezer-burned taste I was expecting. Yay!
The next day, our stomachs were a little upset, but I think that was probably the result of all the junk food we ate over the weekend. I’ve had more cake since then and I feel fine!
So I guess this means our marriage will have good luck? 😛
